Construction of the Lakeside housing development in Romania began in the 1980s. Most of the private homes were demolished and the Moszny family was evicted against their will. But József Moszny did not move into the apartment building. Instead, he withdrew to his plot of land in between the two lakes and continued to raise his cattle amidst the concrete roads, warehouses, apartments and city traffic. The city council was not pleased, and fines were issued. Providing a brief insight into the story of a quiet revolution, the celebrated Hungarian filmmaker Robert Lakatos' muted ironic portrait finds a resonant situational metaphor for the tension between old and new in Eastern Europe.
